Sarkozy, Karamanlis hail Berisha’s victory

TIRANA, Sep 15 – Almost three months after the parliamentary election of June 28 the re-elected Prime Minister, Sali Berisha, is now receiving telegrams of congratulation on his victory from western leaders.
France’s President Nicolas Sarkozy and Greece’s Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis sent their congratulations made known Tuesday.
“Legislative elections represent the victory of democracy. France would certainly support your country’s EU bid at the European Commission,” wrote Sarkozy. “The progress noticed at the legislative elections represents a victory of democracy. I appreciate the magnitude of Albania’s progress on its way of approaching to the EU and I encourage you to go ahead with the undertaken reforms. France will give all its support to you. France emphasizes the will to act in this direction and it will support Albania’s EU bid at the European Commission.”
