Tirana, Sep. 14 – There are hints that FIFA may fine Albania for the deplorable conditions of hygiene in the national stadium in Tirana which hosted the World Cup Group 1 qualifier between Albania and Denmark.
The local press reported that the Danish soccer players left the country’s international stadium “Qemal Stafa” without having a shower due to the lack of hot water. The same happened with the Turkish referees’ changing rooms. Public toilets were often left without water, and there were no toilets for women.
FIFA may be considering punishing the Balkan country with a fine of up to 30,000 Euros.
It may also take the extreme decision to suspend future international matches in this stadium until its facilities meet minimum sanitary conditions.
