Tirana expresses condolences for quake in Indonesia

TIRANA, Oct 5 – Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha sent a message of condolences to the Indonesian President, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, following the earthquake that struck the Indonesian island of Sumatra and also offered “a symbolic assistance fund of 30,000 Euros which will become available through official channels.”
Berisha expressed “deep regret Š(on) the tragic consequences of the earthquake that struck recently the Indonesian island of Sumatra.”
Last Wednesday’s 7.6-magnitude quake in Sumatra island has already caused hundreds of dead, expected to be in the thousands.
“Allow me to assure you that in these moments, the government and the Albanian people stand by the government and the people of the Republic of Indonesia and share with you the deep pain that caused this natural disaster and also express to you the warm feelings of solidarity and the most sincere condolences for the relations of the victims.”
