TIRANA, Oct 11 – Albanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ilir Meta took part last week at the SEECP Meeting in Istanbul, Turkey.
Meta held a speech during the Informal Meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Southeast Europe (SEECP), hosted by Turkish Foreign Minister Mr. Ahmet Davutoglu.
The minister highlighted Albania’s important role as a factor of peace and stability in the region, its new dimension as a new NATO member with a clear perspective towards European integration.
Meta underlined the fact that after Kosovo’s declaration of independence, the region has been enriched with democratic values and new standards of security. He also added that, “Albania supports the institutions and political parties in Kosovo and their will to work closely with international institutions, more specifically with EULEX, in order to consolidate the standards of democracy and its multiethnic society.”
That was a clear sign of Albania’s commitment in favor of lobbying for Kosovo’s recognition.
He also urged SEECP member countries to intensify the joint efforts in order to create an energy community of SEE, pan-European corridors, and a trade-free zone for SEE, as important priorities which will strengthen regional cooperation, peace, security and the prosperity of all people in the region.
He said that, “The process of market integration will be better achieved through a joint initiative on the free movement of our citizens.”
