Deeper police cooperation between Tirana and Brussels

TIRANA, Nov 25 – Top Belgian police Fernand Koekelberg made a visit to Tirana to meet with top Albanian officials and discuss on further strengthening the bilateral cooperation in the fight against organized crime.
Koekelberg met with Interior Minister Lulzim Basha, top policeman Hysni Burgaj and other law enforcement officials.
Both police considered further deepening the bilateral cooperation and exchange of information, including extradition and arrest procedures.
The two police institutions signed the agreement on cooperation for the 2009-2010 period.
Koekelberg said that due to such an intensive cooperation when Belgium has the EU presidency next year it will hold the meeting of the police officers from all the European countries in Tirana.
