TIRANA, Dec. 22 – Fighting organized crime and preventing criminal activities, especially against property, remain the main priorities of Tirana’s police.
The capital’s police held its annual evaluation meeting insisting that police in the community was one of the innovations that had allegedly given it positive results.
That meant closer cooperation with the people in the capital’s and asking for their assistance in preserving law and order.
Police said they had managed to solve 82 percent of the crimes committed in the capital.
Fighting drug trafficking remains a main issue of concern with 108 persons arrested for being involved in such a crime. Police have confiscated 1.5 kilogram of heroin, 145 grams of cocaine, 13 kilos of cannabis sativa and other drugs.
They have also focused on fighting economic crimes, including corruption.
Top policeman Hysni Burgaj urged a more intensified focus on organized crime.
