Fight agaisnt organized crime remains top priority for border police

TIRANA, Dec. 20 – Border police authorities said that the fight against organized crime remained a top priority next year.
The border management authorities held their annual meeting to discuss results and what to do next year.
Close attention was paid to the intensification of the preventive and investigative work at the country’s only international airport, Mother Teresa Tirana International Airport.
They also said they would intensify the exchange of information with other countries and international law enforcement institutions.
Border management has been a main issue of contest from the European Union along the country’s steps toward the visa-free regime.
Albanian authorities have installed new technology and equipment in all the border crossing points which are now linked online with other European countries.
Albania hopes to get the visa-free regime next year after Brussels decides whether the country has fulfilled all the requirements for the process.
