TIRANA, Jan. 7 – Opposition Socialist Party on Thursday asked Energy Minister Dritan Prifti to resign blaming him for the situation of the flooding resulting from the water discharge from the three hydropower stations on the Drini River.
The Socialist blamed Prifti for the catastrophe of the northwestern area of Shkoder and Lezha with accumulating water in the power plants’ reservoirs earlier last year and not managing them according to the required standards
They said the government had collected more than allowed the water at the reservoirs in order to export energy alter.
The opposition again appealed to the population in the area to leave the place and not threaten their lives.
Energy Minister praised the power corporation officials for their professionalism and also called for solidarity under such a situation
