TIRANA, Jan. 5 – Authorities reported the 10th dead person from the swine flu, adding that many persons were still reluctant to be vaccinated.
Most of the health-care providers refuse to get vaccinated against the disease.
Authorities said there were 418 patients tested positive with the flu but added they believe the real number is much higher.
They again called on the people to use the vaccine. They said there were a higher number of flu-infected persons compared to last year but also noted there was seen a gradual and slow reduction of the increase of the swine flu cases compared to last month.
Albanians are confused about their level of risk of contracting swine flu and the effectiveness of the vaccine, fearing its possible side effects.
Alban Ylli, head of Public Health Institute, acknowledged there was a growing resistance to H1N1 vaccination, underlining the need to further clarify the importance of the immunization program.
