TIRANA, Jan. 5 – The Foreign Ministry announced at the end of the year that the government had nominated Selim Belortaja as Deputy Minister.
Belortaja is Doctor of Economic Sciences, economist and expert on international trade and development policies.
Previously he had the post of Director-General for economic cooperation at the Ministry, the post of Executive Director of the Albanian Center for Competitiveness and International Trade (ACIT), a research institute (“think tank”) established with support from USAID.
Belortaja was a member of the cabinet (1993-1997) with the portfolios of Minister of Industry and Commerce and the Secretary of State for External Economic Relations. He was also Chairman of the Albanian team for the negotiations of the SAA with the EU in 1996.
