Tirana hails Podgorica for setting diplomatic ties with Prishtina

TIRANA, Jan. 18 – The Albanian Foreign Ministry welcomed the signing of the act of establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Kosovo and Montenegro, considering it an important step and a very clear message for peace, stability and progress in our region.
Tirana “believes also that such a step would contribute towards a better mutual trust and would encourage the two-sided respect between these two neighboring countries, in the interest of common good, of strengthening regional stability and of a fast realization of common European and Euro-Atlantic goals.”
Tirana also said that the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kosovo and other countries in the region “is proof of its progress towards building a democratic society, rule of law, and an expression of a new mindset in our region, oriented towards a common Euro-Atlantic future
appear before You to welcome, on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Albania, the establishment of diplomatic relations between Republic of Kosovo and Republic of Montenegro.”
A statement considered it “another achievement of the youngest state in the world – Kosovo, in its path of establishing diplomatic relations and in gaining new recognitions. The establishment of relations between Kosovo and Montenegro is also very significant for the region and for the Balkans as a whole, due to the very fact that Kosovo has already established diplomatic ties with three of its surrounding countries, which are its direct neighbors in the region – Albania, [FYROM] and Montenegro.”
