TIRANA, March 1 – Interior Minsiter Lulzim Basha last week was in a visit to Brussels where he met with interior and justice minsiters and other officials of the European Union member countries to dicsuss the issue of the visa-free regime for Albania.
He took part at a meeting of the 27 EU member countries on the Western balkans where he informed his counterpaarts on the efforts made by Tirana on the visa liberalization like security of the identity cards, passports, security at the border and the fight against crime.
He really praised his country’s authroities for the biometric passports which is up to the highest European standards and spoke at length on the border managment and the cooperation Albanian police keep with their countreparts in Europe and further.
Basha said that Albania has made fast and stable progress to fulfill all the criteria of the road map on the visa liberaliztion and called on the EU not to make any delay in the decision on albania as well.
Albania was not included together with FYROM, Montenegro and Serbia last year to get the visa-free regime last December.
It was told that together with Bosnia it should wait for this summer to listen to what Brussels is to decide.
