Italian Prosecutor general further strengthens ties

TIRANA, March 17 – Italian Prosecutor General Pierro Grasso held a visit to Albania to meet with his Albanian counterpart Ina Rama to discuss on how to further strengthen the cooperation between the two countries in the fight against organized crime.
The two top prosecutors discussed concretely on many issues they are jointly investigating.
They also discussed on the transfer of some Albanian detainees back home to serve their sentences.
The Italian prosecutor also urged Albanian authorities to formally recognize verdicts of the Italian courts on Albanian citizens
Both countries have signed the extradition agreement since December 2007 and the parliaments are expected to ratify it.
The two officials decided to have more direct contacts between the two institutions in order to deepen the fight against illegal activities.
