TIRANA, May 9 – Forty-two generals from that many countries landed in Tirana Wednesday to take part at the international conference of the land forces organized by NATO and other partner countries.
Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha exploited the gathering to repeat that Albania will continue with its presence in Afghanistan to take this country into a normal democracy.
Albania has a few hundred of military personnel there, also assisting in the social affairs like training the army and police and building schools and helping the local medical staff.
The conference is to discuss for the training and support policies of the NATO member countries and its partners and also the international peacekeeping missions.
There is an increase of the NATO meetings of different levels held in the country recently.
Berisha also mentioned the fact that he is to take part at the Chicago NATO summit later this month.
Albania became a NATO member in 2009.
