TIRANA, May 26 – Albanian opposition last week Friday staged yet another street protest against the Socialist-led government of Prime Minister Edi Rama, accusing it of failing to combat drug trafficking in the country.
There were fewer people attending than the previous protest, held a week earlier in front of the parliament building. It was held close to the place where 13 men and women were staging a hunger strike to protest against alleged firings due to political affiliation.
Following some brief speeches held from young people, Democratic Party Chairman Lulzim Basha harshly accused Rama’s government for letting drug trafficking reign free in the country.
“The opposition protest on Friday, was a major event for democracy and protests will continue until drug cartels disappear,” Basha said at a meeting a few days later.
