TIRANA, Nov 1 – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ilir Meta met with a delegation of US Business Executives for National Security led by General Charles G. Boyd.
The discussions touched on issues related to Albania’s role on regional security, its contribution in Afghanistan, its full integration to the EU, and on the prospects for the role of US investors in Albania. Attending this meeting was also the US Ambassador in Albania, Mr. John Withers.
Meta showed his appreciation for the visit of the US delegation and underscored the significance of relations with the USA as Albania’s strategic ally in consolidating peace and stability in the region. In this context Albania was praised the constructive policy of good – neighborliness pursued by the Albanian Government.
Meta expressed the belief that Albania’s accession to NATO has considerably reinforced its strategic position and the role it plays for regional and global security. Meta commended the US assistance for Albania’s full EU integration contributing, in particular, to strengthening its borders and national security.
Boyd praised Albania’s positive policy in the region and extended the US gratitude for Albania’s significant contribution in Afghanistan, as a NATO member state.
The members of the US delegation stated their will to encourage the intensification of US investments in Albania, as a contribution to enhancing regional security and stability.
