TIRANA, Nov 5 – Albanian senior politicians and top government leaders hailed Barack Obama for his success to get the US top post beating his rival in a sweeping victory.
President Bamir Topi said that US elections were a great lecture to Albania showing how democracy functions.
Prime Minister Sali Berisha also hailed Obama’s victory followed by the main opposition Socialist Party leader Edi Rama.
All Albanian officials made it clear that Obama’s victory would hardly change Washington’s policy toward their country and also Kosova.
Local editors also wrote how the world’s strongest country managed to throw away long-time barriers to elect a black leader as their top man.
Many also hailed Obama as the right person to launch a much-needed change in his country’s policy that would subsequently affect the world.
The US embassy in Tirana held a night-long ‘party’ at a hotel to follow developments in the US voting. An informal voting from participants also elected Obama as US president.
