TIRANA, June 30 – The Israeli parliament’s Interior and Environmental Committee unanimously approved, on Sunday, a mutual abolition of the need to issue a visa for Israelis traveling to Russia and for Russians coming to Israel.
Albania has also signed mutual visa-abolishing agreements with Israel. Albania is the first country belonging to the Organization of Muslim Countries signing such an agreement with Israel. Some 58 states enjoy a visa-exemption agreement with Israel.
On Monday, Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha met with top Israeli Foreign Ministry official, Pinhas Avivi, thanking him for the continuous support given to Albania as it seeks to become integrated into international institutions.
Israel praised Albania’s membership invitation from NATO, considering it a greater guarantee for peace and stability in the region. Berisha also invited Israeli businessmen to invest in Albania due to its potential.
