TIRANA, Oct 20 – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ilir Meta met last week with Montenegrin Ambassador Zeljko Perovic to discuss the excellent bilateral relations between the two countries including recent developments in the region, European integration of both countries and the enhancement the legal framework of bilateral cooperation.
Perovic praised the traditional and sustainable ties between Podgorica and Tirana as a meaningful example of the impact they have on the mutual development between the two neighboring countries and the broader region.
Meta emphasized that Albania and its people want to have close cooperation with Montenegro, judging that it would serve simultaneously to the progressive spirit and stability in the region, and in particular the common interests of Euro-Atlantic integration.
During the meeting they also talked about the progress made in various areas of cooperation, especially in tourist infrastructure. They stressed the need to improve roads on both sides of the border.
Regarding the expansion of the legal framework of cooperation, they stressed that the expected signing of the agreements for mutual movement, readmission and border signs are important indicators of the materialization of a partnership.
