TIRANA, April 10 – Albania’s top authorities have pledged to continue their assistance to Kosovo for the new country to get further international recognition.
The pledge came during a visit of Kosovo Parliament Speaker Jakup Krasniqi in Albania last week to take part at a forum of the Albanian Institute for International Studies on the future of the Balkans into the European Union.
Krasniqi met with all the top Albanian officials during the trip.
Albanian senior officials — President Bamir Topi, Prime Minister Sali Berisha, Foreign Minister Ilir Meta and counterpart Jozefina Topalli. They said Tirana would continue its diplomatic efforts around the world for more recognition of the new country.
Kosovo declared its independence in 2008 and has already been recognized by United States and most of the European Union member countries.
Albania and Kosovo also pledged closer ties in the future.
Tirana pledged its support to Prishtina’s integration efforts into the NATO and the European Union considering their ties as a good example for the regional peace and prosperity.
