Albania secures swine flu vaccine

TIRANA, Sep 14 – Albanian health authorities said that Albania has secured some 900,000 swine flu vaccines, based on promises received from Germany and the European Union.
Outgoing health Minister Anila Godo said that, “Germany has put us on its list for 600,000 vaccines.” She added a promise from the EU director of communicable diseases for 300,000 vaccines.
High-risk groups, such as health care workers, the chronically ill, pregnant women and children will receive the vaccine first.
The Institute of Public Health has declared that 31 cases of H1N1 viral infection have been registered in Albania.
Health authorities also said that there was no need to postpone the start of the school year.
