TIRANA, Sep 23 – A British commentator has singled out Albania as a destination which will “surprise and enchant” UK visitors.
Writing for the Times, David Aaronovitch said one particular attraction of the country was to visit the archaeological site of Butrint.
Commenting on how much enjoyment he had gained from his visit to the country, Aaronovitch suggested people who travel to Corfu on holiday should consider spending a couple of days in Albania.
“Who needs more than ten days sunbathing? No one. Not when surprise and beauty lie an hour away across the water,” he said.
A variety of civilizations have left their mark on Albania, with interesting cultural monuments to be found all over the country.
In terms of cuisine, it states that Albanian food has strong Turkish influences – with a number of meat-based dishes, strong coffee and ice cream all proving particularly popular
