TIRANA, June 10 – The Albanian parliament voted Monday to send an army unit of 62 soldiers on a one-year mission to Africa. The unit, to be part of a European Union force in Chad and the Central African Republic, will be based in N’djamena, Chad. The group will be part of the EU’s 3,700-force mission that is to be completed in July. Albania already has small army units in Bosnia, Afghanistan and Iraq. Albania, a small, predominantly Muslim nation on the Adriatic, received an invitation to join in April and expects to receive its full membership next year. (Tirana Times Staff)
