TIRANA, Jan 12 – A group of Albanian immigrants were trapped by snow in the mountain just inside the Greek border.
They managed to make a call to ask for assistance, resulting in the Greek police searching for them. After rescuing the group, police arrested them for illegally crossing the border.
It is normal that they will be turned back to their homeland after questioning.
Their family members said that they were looking for a better life in neighboring Greece. Having no regular visas they tried to cross the border on foot but found they were unable to cope with the harsh winter and snow covering the area.
In another case, a minivan coming from Albania was stopped by Italian police who found two Afghans, an Iranian and two Albanians trying to illegally enter the country.
However, the two Albanians managed to escape from Italian police.
