PARIS, July 16 – Albania’s national volleyball team was suspended from the international competition because of a friendly with Kosova that is not yet recognized by the International Federation of Volleyball (Fivb). Secretary General of the Albanian volleyball federation Leonard Tase protested what he called an “unjust” decision. The two countries played a friendly July 4, U.S. Independence Day, with the support of Ministers of Culture of Albania and Kosovo. Tase hoped that was not a political decision though he hinted there could have been influences within the international volleyball federation from the Serb Federation. Albania will not be able to take part in the events organized this year by the Balkan Volleyball Association. (Tirana Times Staff)
