TIRANA, Nov 25 – Aldo Bare, a suspected Albanian leading one of most notorious crime gangs, was extradited from Turkey Wednesday.
Alfred Shkurti, reported leader of the Banda e Lushnjes crime gang, was arrested in Turkey in March 2006 and has been in jail since then pending trial on his extradition.
Shkurti, who also goes by the name Aldo Bare, is charged of more than 20 murders and several hijackings, as well as the destruction of property and the desecration of graves.
His gang allegedly operated out of Albania, Turkey, Bulgaria, FYROM and Romania, trafficking drugs to Western Europe, according to Albanian Interior Ministry.
His extradition will positively affect deeper investigation of such a criminal organization, said a police statement.
