GJIROKASTRA, Nov. 8 – Last weekend Saturday police arrested Sabin Hoxha in the southern city of Gjirokastra and accused him of illegal trafficking of people across the border into neighboring Greece.
He was arrested while trying to illegally cross the border with two persons. They would pay Hoxha 1,000 euros when across the border and reaching Greek capital Athens.
Hoxha is a resident of Gramsh town not that near the border.
Hoxha was trying to cross the border at the green line, in points at the border which are not monitored from border police of both countries.
Albanian police usually stops about 300-350 persons a month trying to illegally cross the border
That may likely change when the country starts to enjoy the visa liberalization, though one could also think persons looking for a job would not like to be stamped officially at their passport at a time when they want to stay longer than the required timing.
