TIRANA, Sep 29 – The Albanian Defense Ministry and the General Staff held for two days the second conference on the integration of the Albanian armed forces into the NATO structures.
Albania became a NATO member in April this year.
Minister Arben Imami, chief-of-staff Brig. Gen. Maksim Malaj and other top civilian and army officials in the country were also joined by military personnel of the two strategic NATO commands in Naples, Italy.
Albania has pledged to fully turn the army next year into a professional one. But the minister said the process would take longer, thus making it capable to be well-integrated into the NATO operations and procedures.
The country has a five-year integration plan for that process.
