Artists from Albania, Macedonia, Italy, honor Mother Teresa with a concert

TIRANA, Sept.11- A memorial concert to honor the 10th anniversary of the death of Mother Teresa was held at the main stage of the theater of opera and ballet in Tirana. Artists from Macedonia, Kosovo, Italy and Austria participated in the concert organized by Liri Berisha, and Culture Minister Ylli Pango. The concert appeared in the form of a collage with master works from world music. The main theme was the 9th symphony of Beethoven played by Albanian and Macedonian artists of the respective philharmonic orchestras under the Italian director Walter Themel. Other important works played were: “Casta Diva” from the opera “Norma” of Vincenso Belini, “Adagio” from Samuel Barber, “Ave Maria” of Gjon Simoni, etc., executed professionally by the Albanain soprano Mariana Leka, the Austrian soprano Regine Hangler, half-soprano Manjola Konjari, tenor Adrian Xhema, coming from Germany as well as Abramo Rosalem from Italy. Music was also performed by choruses from Albania, Kosovo and Macedonia. The artistic director of the performance was the Albanian master artist Zhani Ciko and the executive director, Hervin ȵli. On the stage there was a copy of a sculpture of Mother Teresa from the sculptor Thoma Thomai surrounded by candles which were held by both the artists and the audience. The costumes of the performers had the colors of Mother Teresa mission; white and blue. Artist Roza Anagnosti read verses for the saint.

The concert followed the activity of Monday where well-known names of Albanian classical and opera music such as Edith Mihali, Mariana Leka, Vikena Kamenica, Armaldo Kllogjeri, Armando Lika, and others performed in honor of the Albanian saint. The activity was saluted by actor Mirush Kabashi who read verses for Mother Teresa.
