Balkan army chiefs discuss military co-operation

ANTALYA, Aug 18 – Regional army chiefs met in the Turkish resort of Antalya this week to discuss promoting military cooperation in the region. Present were the chiefs of the general staffs of Romania, Montenegro, Serbia, Macedonia, Greece, Turkey, Bulgaria, Albania and Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as NATO and EU military committee representatives. The participants underlined the importance of neighborly relations and military cooperation among Balkan states to address regional security challenges. Participants approved a number of joint military activities in the coming years. The next meeting of Balkan army chiefs will occur in Serbia in 2009. (Tirana Times Staff)
