TIRANA, June 22 – Foreign Minister Lulzim Basha took part, at the last meeting of the Organization of the Islamic Conference in Kampala, Uganda, using the gathering to lobby for recognition of the newest country in the world, Kosova.
Basha took part in the 35th session of the OIC foreign ministers.
More than 40 countries, including the U.S. and most of the European Union, have recognized independent Kosova.
Recognition by the OIC member countries could make it possible for Kosova to also ask for United Nations membership.
Basha said, at the meeting and the bilateral talks he had during the session, that delaying Kosova’s recognition would not serve peace and stability in the Balkans. (Tirana Times Staff)
