TIRANA, Nov 8 – Argita Malltezi, daughter of Prime Minster Sali Berisha, a lawyer, came out Sunday in a statement saying that Mero Baze, the journalist who was beaten by a businessman last week, had a grudge against her and the Berisha family after she declined to make some suspicious moves.
Last week Rezart Taci, 38, who owns the refinery ARMO, gave himself up to police after a court ruled he should await trial in jail over the attack earlier on the journalist Mero Baze.
That incident has sparked a loud cry from journalists accusing Berisha of pressure.
Argita said that Baze had been her client. She added that Taci was not her client, as stated by Baze and the media.
Argita said that she cut ties with Baze after she considered a sale-buying process that Baze was trying to do for his newspaper TemA as suspicious, as an effort of money laundry.
She said she had not agreed to write a contract when Baze regained his paper that he had allegedly sold months ago for hundreds of millions of lek.
Argita also denounced the violence on Baze.
Baze has formerly been close to Berisha, an informal adviser for many years, until more than a year ago when he turned into his harshest critic. Baze is now Berisha’s harshest opponent.
