TIRANA, Nov 4 – Caroline Flint, British State Minister on Europe, urged the Albanian political forces to speed up their efforts to pass the new electoral code.
The code is being prepared by a parliamentary commission and to end in mid-November still in time for next year’s general elections likely to be held in June.
The call from the British official was made in London when she met with the opposition Socialist party leader Edi Rama, who is there on an official visit.
The British official also evaluated the Albanian opposition’s stand on the country’s integration efforts into NATO and the European Union.
Next year’s elections are considered by the international community as an important test to the country’s integration efforts.
