TIRANA, July 9 – Mihal Delijorgji, of Alba Demil company which owned the disposal ammunition factory in Gerdec which exploded March 15 killing 26 and injure 300 persons, has accused Kreshnik Spahiu, deputy head of the High Council of Justice, of unfairly violating his rights and those of the judiciary.
Delijorgji, his manager and a defense ministry official have been under arrest since the explosion and have been charged with negligence.
Delijorgji sent an open letter to Prosecutor General Ina Rama, People’s Advocate Ermir Dobjani and other top officials complaining of Spahiu’s statement that three judges of the appeals court in Durres had excused him from prior charges, thus opening the way for the Gerdec tragedy.
Delijorgji said he had kept silent until now, despite attacks he suffered in media outlets, believing that it was up to the justice to decide whether he was guilty or innocent.
He has continued to claim he is innocent and that the real persons to blame should be held responsible, without naming them.
Delijorgji said that Spahiu was not entitled to declare, as a mistake, a court verdict.
Spahiu and Justice Minister Enkelejd Alibeaj have sought punishments for the three judges mentioned in that case.
Strangely enough, Delijorgji also has said that he had nothing to do with the Gerdec tragedy. He said he had no link at all and had not signed a contract with the government on disposing of the ammunition “because (he) has not had any legal and professional conditions to realize that process.”
He also denied any link to the persons in power.
Delijorgji appealed to the Prosecutor General to strongly respond to such statements as long as the case remains under investigation.
