TIRANA, May 27 – The Chinese government donated computers to Albania that will be used to install two cabinets at the two main public universities.
The donation of one million dollars was handed over last week from the Chinese ambassador Ye Hao to the Albanian Minister of Innovation and Technology Genc Pollo.
Installing and upgrading the digital technology has turned into a major project for the Albanian government.
There is a significant increase of the use of computers and other digital devices, like cell phones, in Albania in the last decade.
The government has set equipping all the schools with computers as a main target.
In a recent meeting on broadband development in the country Pollo said that despite the significant increase in the last years, the government has undertaken a series of initiatives to upgrade the network to a broadband one, in line with the identical developments in the continent.
Very soon Albania will also apply the European goal of turning the television analogue broadcast into a digital one.
