TIRANA, Feb. 22 – Albanian border police seized last week some 250 kilograms of marijuana close to the border with Greece.
The amount of marijuana was found packed hidden at the cemetery of the village of Ciflik, only two kilometers from the Greek border.
Police have no information about the owner of the drugs, but said it was produced in Albania and was intended for the Greek drug market.
Albania is a country of origin for cannabis sativa and also a transit point for heroin.
Fighting drug traffic remains a top priority of the country’s authorities.
