TIRANA, Aug 27 – Top Albanian officials met with a delegation of FRONTEX, a new organization of the European Union based in Warsaw, Poland, covering border management.
Two Frontex officials met with top Albanian policeman Ahmet Prenci and also Vice Interior Minister Genti Strazimiri.
They offered they full assistance to the country’s efforts to better manage and control its borders along the efforts of integration into the European Union. Albania has been evaluated for its good efforts and steps in that context and that is especially noted during the summer vacations when hundreds of thousands of Albanian immigrants visit their homeland. Police continually report stopping and arresting persons trying to exploit the intensity of the work at the border crossing points. Many wanted persons and also other people involved in human and drug trafficking have been arrested. The Frontex officials also visited border crossings of Qafe Thane and Kapshtica, urging closer cooperation with neighboring countries.
