TIRANA, July 14 – Albanians were assisted by a Canadair plane of the Italian civil protection to help extinguish fires that have been discovered in many areas in the country.
Albanian emergency authorities asked for Italian assistance in areas where firefighting equipment could not be sent.
Fires have raged in western Albania along the coast, as well as in the north, often set by peasants seeking to create pastures.
