TIRANA, Jan. 4 – Germany handed over to the Albanian police a set of equipment that may be used to check vehicles for smuggling, read biometric passports, fight electronic crime and other things.
They will also train Vlora border police on the fight against illegal trafficking and organized crime.
The project was funded with $632,000 from the UN office on drugs and Germany.
German Ambassador Bernd Borchardt said that Albania should give priority to improving border management as that is fundamental in its request for the visa-free regime with the European Union Schengen member countries.
