TIRANA, Oct 21 – The governing Democratic Party of Prime Minister Sali Berisha set the names of the five candidates for the partial local elections to be held Nov. 15.
These posts have been left empty after the former officials have been elected and taken posts as lawmakers.
But the opposition Socialist Party has decided to boycott such a partial election round due its claims of vote manipulation.
The Socialists are also boycotting the parliament asking for the recount of the ballots in some scores of boxes they claim were manipulated.
The governing Democrats deny there was such a mistake but also do not agree to the opening of the ballot boxes saying everything was determined by the electoral and legal authorities after the June 28 parliamentary elections.
