TIRANA, Sep 23 – Internal conflicts among the leadership of the Human Rights Union Party, often credited as belonging to the ethnic Greek minority in the country, will very likely oblige Prime Minister Sali Berisha to change a minister of his cabinet.
The HRUP has the Labor Minister Kosta Barka, who seems to be quarreling with his party’s boss Vangjel Dule.
The conflict started after Barka fired his secretary-general Andrea Marto, number two post in a ministry, for failing to report at work. It seemed that Marto was close to Dule who went Monday afternoon to meet with Berisha and very likely succeeded in convincing him to change names in the post: Marto instead of Barka.
There is still no confirmation or announcement from the premier’s office but everyone believes that reshuffle is to happen in the near future.
Dule said that Berisha had supported his decision based on the poor results of the reforms in the social aspects.
HRUP has always been sided with the winning political party in the country trying to always be present at the cabinet with a ministerial post. They were also members of the previous leftist governing coalition until 2005.
