Government to compensate for IDs

TIRANA, Jan 14 – The government will compensate socially assisted persons, pensioners and students buying the new identity cards.
Prime Minister Sali Berisha said that the 1,200 lek tariff for the ID would be reduced 65-70 percent for the poor and for students or 500 leks; 56 percent for the pensioners or 800 leks; and 30 percent for public employees, or 1,000 leks.
All of them will receive compensation upon presenting the new ID to the authorities.
