TIRANA, July 2 – The Tirana court sentenced 10 members of the Revenge for Justice gang to long prison terms, reaching 177 years, and also two life sentences for crimes committed during the early years following the collapse of the communist regime in 1990. They were charged with killing the former prison department head, robbing a bank and a series of other crimes through 1996.
They were each sentenced in absentia, however, their lawyers said they would appeal the verdicts. Some of them have been granted political asylum in European countries.(Tirana Times Staff)
