TIRANA, Jan. 21 – The Electricity Regulatory Entity has decided to increase energy prices next month.
The head of ERE, Bujar Nepravishta, said the company would decide on a price increase during the first ten days of February after receiving all the information and opinions from interested groups.
The Albanian Electro-Energy Corporation, or KESH, has asked for a price increase, though the country has been in a continuous crisis with long power outages during the last two to three years. Prime Minister Sali Berisha had first said there was no need to raise the price but the idea was strongly opposed by the International Monetary Fund.
