TIRANA, Oct. 20 – The exhibition titled ‘Home and Abroad’ was inaugurated on Friday, at the National History Museum, in Tirana. This exhibition comes from the joint effort of two artists’ separate works, Albanian Helidon Haliti and Chinese Li Xiaocheng, in the watercolor genre.

“The exhibition is a division of 40 of my artworks with the taste of Albania that I have been working on the in last 3-4 years, and 40 of the life-works of the Dean of the Shantou Academy, Li Xiaocheng. I definitely felt there were points of comparison, despite China’s big size.”

The exhibition, also bringing Xiaocheng in Tirana, will familiarize the Albanian public with the Far East’s landscapes and also bring a traditional novelty to be proposed with a contemporary twist.

“The special thing about this exhibition will be its famous pottery, in which Picasso has also contributed with an amazing set,” Haliti added.

Meanwhile, Xiaocheng thanked Haliti for inviting and welcoming him in Tirana for this exhibition.

“Watercolor painting is structured and expressed a particular philosophy, as well the extraordinary sensitivity of the painter,” said Tirana’s deputy mayor Abaz Hado. “They display and communicate through and to themselves. Meanwhile, what’s also beautiful in this exhibition is that we have two different formats, Helidon in oil and Helidon in watercolor, though the watercolor format has taken international proportions.”

The exhibition was also addressed by the Chinese Ambassador in Albania, Jiang Yu, historian Moikom Zego, art-lover, Andi Seferi. In her opening remarks, Yu said that this exhibition has created a new cultural bridge between the two nations. She added that friendship and the familiarization between the two nations have been strengthened through these contacts, which have been much more frequent this year.

This is the second exhibition to showcase both artists’ works, after the first one’s success in Shantou, a city in South-East China. This year, it remained open at the National History Museum until the 25th of October.
