Intesa Sanpaolo S.p.A finalizes purchase of American Bank of Albania

TIRANA, June.9 – The Supervisory Council of the Bank of Albania approved a transfer of the controlling package of 80 percent of its shares of the American Bank of Albania to the Italian Intesa Sanpaolo S.p.A. banking group. According to the Bank of Albania, the new owner of the American Bank of Albania, Intesa Sanpaolo S.p.A, is an Italian leader in European banking and plans to become an important banking operation in Albania, capable of providing improved products to its clients and compete efficiently in the banking and financial services sector.
After the approval of this transfer, the majority of the shares of the American Bank of Albania will be owned by the Albanian-American Enterprise Fund (20 percent) and Intesa Sanpaolo S.p.A group (80 percent)
