Italian senior officials meet with Albanian leaders

TIRANA, Jan. 23 – Italian Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs Famiano Crucianeli met this week with Albanian President Alfred Moisiu and also Prime Minister Sali Berisha. In all the meetings it was stressed the very good relations existing between the two countries. The Italian efforts to assist Albania on its road toward integration into NATO and the European Uinion were acknowledged. Berisha also expressed his government’s support of the Italian initiative of the moratorium to the United Nations on capital punishment. Albanian officials also discussed sending a peacekeeping army unit to join Italian forces in Lebanon. Italy is Albania’s main trade partner.
