TIRANA, Aug 26 – In the past 14 years, Italy has donated or sold to Albania some 100,000 rails that are dangerous to the public’s health, according to a local newspaper.
In 1994, Italy donated 50,000 rails to Albania, but 40,000 of them were found to be expired, according to Gazeta Shqiptare.
Further, it has been recently revealed that rails brought from Italy could cause cancer to people due to chemicals used to preserve the wood. (Tirana Times Staff)
