CERRIK, Dec. 12 – Police shot dead Agim Peqini, 34, in the town of Cerrik in central Albania after he had also killed two women in an apartment. Neighbours made a phone call to police to tell them that Peqini had killed two women at an apartment. Police found out that Peqini was still there and they started negotiations for him to surrender. Special police forces were send to surround the building and kept it for five hours. Peqini declined to surrender. While they were negotiating a police unit tried to enter the apartment and Peqini shot against them, according to police. Following the army exchange Peqini died. Police found the Kalashnikov which is believe to be the weapon he used to kill Engj쭬ushe Xhevara, 50, and Dashurie Lala, 38. It is believed the crime was caused from a quarrel Peqini had with Ilir Xhevara whom he accused of an affair with his wife. While Lala happened to be on a visit to her neighbour. Peqini’s wife was later sheltered at a centre for women fearing her life. She claimed that Peqini regularly beat her and that she was to divorce him, also not declining the extra-marital affair.
