TIRANA, Oct 21 – The High Council of Justice, the country’s senior executive of the judicial system, has decided to debate the bad work of 12 judges.
Justice has been one of the biggest shortcomings in post-communist Albania.
Among the 12 judges all around the country there are also three that have practically released Mihal Delijorgji, owner of AlbDemil company in charge of the ammunition disposal factory in Gerdec which blasted in March 15 killing 26 and injuring 300 persons.
Delijorgji was accused of contraband and avoiding some $1.2 million of tax payment.
A first instance court had sentenced him with a fine to that amount which was later pardoned by the appeals court.
The council may fire the judges from the post if convinced they were working inappropriately or violating the laws.
